Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

(4th ID) "...is due to arrive in about two weeks."
Yeah, that hurts. But they're talking about THOUSANDS of forces arriving daily. I figure elements of the 4th (and others) are arriving and deploying daily - temporarily linking up to the 3rd and other groups...

What is atropine used for? Counteracts nerve agents like VX. This is serious -- it means the Iraqis intend to use the stuff.

Atropine is used to counteract the effects of neuromuscular-blocking nerve agents such as VX and Sarin.

Two drugs, atropine and pralidoxime chloride, have been used as antidotes for nerve agent poisoning. Atropine works by blocking one type of acetylcholine receptor so that the acetylcholine that is already in the synapse cannot work. Pralidoxime works by blocking the binding of the nerve agent to the AChE. Both of these drugs were issued to US troops during the Persian Gulf War in the form of an antidote kit called the Mark I. Diazepam (Valium) may be used to reduce convulsions and seizures brought on by exposure to nerve agents.

A reporter with a "personal military history?" Buddy, lay down that Crack pipe you're smokin'. I doubt that these guys even have "personnel histories" given their level idiocy.

Did you hear that on Fox.......the Iraqis had that TANK inside the hospital......jeesh!

atropine
Definition: an alkaloid obtained from atropa belladonna. it is used as an antidote for nerve agent poisoning. it inhibits the action of acetylcholine at the muscle junction by binding to acetylcholine receptors.
To: Peach
Atropine simply speeds up your body with a kind of adrenaline replacement. It doesn't counteract the nerve agent, but it keeps your body going long enough for your body's own defenses & filters to purge it from your bloodstream.
To: Peach
Think it's a cardiovascular stimulant.

Al Jazeera has a Shi'ite leader on, appears to be discussing Basra.

I heard the dog barking ... thought about posting a new thread entitled "The Dogs Bark in Bagdad" ... but then I thought better of it.
The audio on the msnbc webcam is lower than it used to be but it is still there ... they seem to have gained it back somewhat from the previous nights.
