Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"A revolt is taking place in Basra," Mohammad Hadi, spokesman of the Iran-based Supreme Assembly for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (news - web sites) (ASRII), told AFP. Is anybody concerned about this?

I'm sorry that I am a little behoind. 3,000 what? Captured? Killed? Story is that the Brits found 300 (or 3,000 according to Shep) chemsuits and a tank (treads and gun type) stashed in a hospital in one of the towns that starts with "N".

See #3233.
I don't know who would be able to ATTACK from the north. The 101st and the 82nd can secure locations but are ill suited to dislodge armor.
The 4th Mech. Div. armor is still in the ships.
To: hawkaw
Iraqis caught in a hospital with 300 or 3000 chemical suits and a tank. Honestly, I'm not clear if it's a tank of possible chemicals or a tank you drive.

Another big boom.

When was Ollie North last heard from....anybody know?
To: Carolinamom
I haven't heard an update from Ollie since he reported about rescuing 50 injured marines.
To: Warren_Piece
Is anybody concerned about this? The Iranians are Shi'ites, as are the folks in Basra. There's a strong "party line" loyalty among the various branches of Islam.

I laughed to myself when I first read your post. Then I thought "not a bad idea". Dogs are amazing.

I've not heard of them being offloaded. The last I heard is that they were being sent through the Suez to Kuwait. That was last Friday, I think.
It would take 2 weeks or so to get those tanks and other equipment offloaded and manned.

Major Garrett needs some TLC after witnessing the POW video. His anger against Saddam's "thugs" is undisguised. I like him for that.

They were US troops in An Nasiriyah that seized the hospital.

Shep was right. MSNBC reports that 3000 chemical suits and masks among the things found in that hospital.

Major Garrett needs some TLC after witnessing the POW video. You aren't kidding. There was a noticable shift in his demeanor after he saw that tape and he hasn't seemed the same since.
