Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

Agree to that!

According to this left wing rhetoric, the US has dropped cluster bombs on Iraq laced with radioactive waste: can anyone here confirm or deny and give a link. Why the hell would we do that? It gives us no advantage to slowly poison people when we could just kill them right then and there.
It's utterly asinine on its surface, so don't bother giving a substantive linked response. I mean, what precise link is going to say "the United States is NOT dropping radioactive waste bombs on Iraqis"--and why would any idiot dumb enough to believe that we'd do something like that believe the link?
To: scriblett
Rummy comparing today's news coverage to WWII news reels at movie theatres. "Breathtaking". I love that guy!

(...an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm--GWB inaugural address)
Rumsfeld: "I can't manage what people say", (i.e., commentators and retired military you see posed as experts on the news). But that if people hear it enough, they will begin to believe it.
Rumsfeld goes on to lay out (to the really dense) that war is indeed difficult.
Now talking about WW Two, where people only saw about 15 minutes of film from weeks ago. Now the instant news media makes it seem like weeks.
"On 1PM Friday the air campaign began.... It even seems like weeks to me"
Basically telling the press to get real.

Love his way with words. Dead-enders. Says it all, irrefutable, already in the (my) lexicon. Old Europe. Etc.
We need Rummy to help fight against the leftist sloganeering, and he's doing a whale of a job. :)

Putting in perspective how long we've been at it---less than a week! Amazing to watch unfold, amazing progress.
The disdain drips from his voice when he mentions Fedayeen. (of course)

AAAGH!! Trying again to blame Rummy! "Isn't it possible that you raised expectations by talking about a "shock and Awe" campaign?" Rummy didn't say it, and he says so! "Why would we have put into training and into the theater all these hundreds of thousands of people if we thought it was going to be over in 5 days?"
To: tictoc; Admin Moderator

I didn't look at the article you reference, but do remember reading something the other day. The headline is trying to bait a particular impression, but I think it really has to do with one of the components of the warhead - it's not really designed to be a radioactive waste dispersal system.
