Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

OK, I am so disgusted. I turned on CNN to see if they were reporting the uprising and I caught the most offensive segment. It was by one of the embedded reporters and he said(about a firefight with Marines and irregulars) "These men, no matter how well they kill, simply can not be heros in this kind of fight." Then they showed an ambulance pulling up to the enemy side and the d@*khead said "This is a reminder that their guns have no conscience."
I know that is what I get for watching that crap, but that was beyond the pale. To say that our guys can not be heros because they are in an unorthodox fight, that the Irag soldiers started. How disgusting!!!

Sounds like the Baath party is bombing and shooting the Iraqi citizens to try to quell the uprising. They are using mortars, but the bombing and shelling is ours (American bombing, British artillery)

The more Daschle keeps berating Bush the worse his cancer will get. It is a self inflicted case. The guy is commiting political suicide, Thank God!
How about Daschle committing... Political Apoptosis!

They are using mortars, but the bombing and shelling is ours (American bombing, British artillery)One talking head said (and he could be wrong but this is what he said) that the instigating incident of this uprising was the Baath party bombing something.
Of course, he could have used the wrong term.

Yup Major Bob is great.

Hi Rummy Chick. I don't have any confirm on Daschle. Looks like 7 x 77 brought this up, but is not providing any evidence. Not to be judgemental, but that particular poster has not impressed me today.
By the way, your guy is briefing soon.
Prayers to our troops, POW's, fallen heroes.

Sounds like they need to leave him embedded in the desert and let him try to hitch back to the border.

One talking head said (and he could be wrong but this is what he said) that the instigating incident of this uprising was the Baath party bombing something Almost right - the impetus for the uprising was the capture of the Ba'ath Party leader for Basrah by British forces and the bombing of the Ba'ath headquarters by our aircraft.

Haven't heard anything about Tiny Tom.
Saxby Chambliss' (R-GA) office building was evacuated because they received a letter with white powder. Have looked for more info, but cannot find any yet.
What's the deal with Daschle? I've been working hard all day! :o(
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
You know, I've invoked "Help is on the way" in recent days, too.
Fitting.

Good pic of fired oil trenches around Baghdad on FNC. Real black and thick but looks like its blowing back into the city.
