Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

The Senate passed a bill (or an amendment to a bill), the first part of last week I think, 52 to 47 to take 100 million from the President's tax cut package over the next 10 years to pay for the war. I haven't heard what happened to this in the House.
BTW......Good Morning, all! Has taken me over an hour to catch up on this thread.

No, you don't need a separate thread, and I don't need links.
There have been many more arrests throughout Europe than those you described.
Europe granted asylum to the Nativity Church terrorists at American insistance.
Why don't we just close down this side argument... I thank you for your in-sight... and I will continue to investigate based on your posts.
Thanks for the information.

They said on the radio that the sandstorms in Iraq are much more like dust storms because the sand is so fine. Much finer than the stuff in Saudi Arabia - whatever that means. LOL!
Also heard what you said, that our guys are much better equipped to work in the standstorms than the Iraqis so it could work to our advantage.

Iain Duncan-Smith on Sky. Offers condolences to families of fallen heroes.
Q: You heard Tony Blair. Does he still have your continuing support?
A: As long as he keeps doing the right thing.
Sky feed lost.

Did Millie pass away? I watch Fox nearly every night and haven't heard this.

I heard very briefly about the evacuation, too. Chris Jansing said their reporter over there heard helicopters much closer and louder than normally allowed that close the WH.
Then they went to Bob Arnot in Kuwait who observed this morning the launch of a Patriot Missile in a straight trajectory, not a high arc as for a Scud. He said the name of what type of missile this Patriot was sent to intercept (I did not take it down) and that this type of missile is insidious as even when intercepted the resulting disintegration will still hurt or kill those in its path. He said the intercept happened about 5 miles from where he is at, but I wasn't clear about the fallout, if any.

My recollection is that Mrs. Kondracke died in the latter half of 2002, but I am hazy on this.

You are correct in all your points and they have been verified in many newspaper accounts.

Okay, glad you accept some things at face value (and I accept your points as well!!).
Maybe we can debate this again later.
To: cyncooper
A ground hugger missile (like the Sunburn) will kill anything in the area when it is impacted by the Patriot.

Did Millie pass away?I have not heard this either. I read the book, Saving Millie, and it is terrific. Very sad story indeed but I had not heard that she had passed away.

glad your back.

Special forces have been there for a long time and done a great job, by all accounts. Just wasn't sure how safe it was to fly helicopters in this sandstorm and thought they were integral to the plan (but sounds like I'm wrong).

I hear you. From when the Sky feed was widely available, it seemed to be somewhere between Fox News and the alphabet soup (closer to its corporate sister than the soup). The BBC is far to the left of the worst of the soup.
