Former Beirut hostage Jeremy Levin, 71, will travel to Baghdad to join a group of Christian anti-war activists in the Iraqi capital city, according to the Associated Press. Levin was a CNN television producer in 1984-85 when he was taken hostage by Lebanese militants. He leads a group of 8 Americans and 1 Brit who plan on heading toward the Iraqi border Tuesday.

Oh how I hope that Levin is a persuasive friend of Michael Moore!

After seeing the effect of precision bombing on Baghdad, I'd say Levin figured it was safer there than in many of our bigger cities, especially the ones with active anti-war protests.
