I think there will be plenty of parking in Paris this summer. Yeah, the Champs Elysee will look like the scene from the empty Wally World parking lot in National Lampoon's "Vacation".

"Secondly, nothing can be done officially without falling foul of WTO (World Trade Organization) rules," he said. "And I don't think the Americans will go down that road."
They didnt think we would go against the UN either did they? I guess they dont really know us!

There are some really good recipes for dressings out there. With a blender and a good recipe you will never miss the store bought stuff. (Just make sure that the blue cheese you buy isn't French).

I find French wines inferior to those from the U.S., Australia, and South America. I didn't buy them before; I certainly won't now. And Italian Gorgonzola is every bit as good as Roquefort.

I'm not normally a wine drinker, but I think today I shall go and buy
a good domestic wine.. just to, er, cheese off the french.

France didn't just "sit out" the war. To the contrary; they were (are?) actively involved in arming, supporting, and advising our enemies--not to mention campaigning AGAINST the U.S. "As France sits out the war against Iraq..." -- yeah, right.
This is why they MUST be kept out of Iraq after the war -- otherwise they will be destryoing evidence. They cannot be trusted. If the UN can act without the axis of weasel, perhaps.... aw forget it. The UN cannot be trusted. It is NOT the only game in town. This morning Annan said that happy Hanz and his merry men are only on temporary suspension. He also called for resumption of oil-for-food. Hey Kofi -- why don't we just feed these people right now and worry about payment later? What a maroon.

While most likely there will be no formal government to government actions, France WILL feel the impact as hundreds of thousands of Americans vote with their wallet.
However, that impact will pale in comparison with what the newly constituted government of Iraq will choose. As long as the UN doesn't hold control and instead the new government makes the calls, France doesn't have a prayer. Americans may be quick to forget but I doubt you could say the same about Saddam's victims.

I work for a company that employs over 100,000 people in the United States, but it is owned by a French company. Some of my fellow employees are concerned about a backlash against the company here in the U.S. We've already heard of some reports of this.I also work for an American company that was acquired by a French firm, though it doesn't sound like the same one. This morning, I started on my letter-writing campaign for some legislation to get us un-acquired (i.e., spun off as an independent company), or at least to have a firewall set up so that American-developed technology cannot be given to the French branches of the company (who are notorious for marketing to rogue states).

I don't like wine, but I'll bet there are some good ones out there that don't stink of France. I *know* most excellent cheese is not French. Just bought a nice English cheddar today.

Salemville Amish blue cheese and gorgonzola are very yummy.
You can't go wrong with a drizzling of good olive oil, a little splash of balsamic vinegar and some crumbled, domestic gorgonzola. This is good over greens with any combination of sliced sweet onion, sliced pear, walnuts, pine nuts, strawberries, tomatoes, or rasberries. Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.
Excuse me, I have to go fix a salad now.
