* The last poll I heard still has 2 out of 3 Muslims unconvinced that ANY Muslim was responsible for 9/11! *
One of the only reasonable objections to the Iraq war used by some protestors is that our military aggression may breed more terrorists throughout the world. This is why, right after 9/11, I was frantically calling for a covert war on these turkeys. The less publicity they get, they better for us. Just have the bastards found with their throats slit, or better yet, never found at all. Leave them fearing and wondering.
But, realistically, we can't as easily penetrate those cultures as easily as we could East Europe's during the Cold War. So, if we must bomb, then lets tell them why. We should take out the Iraqi TV towers and start our own slick aerial broadcasts of interviews with Iraqi defectors, showing pictures of the atrocities. And throw in some American music and culture that is popular over there.
We need to do this throughout the Muslim world. All of our good Muslim Buddy countries still allow rabid anti-American/Israeli/western/christian/jewish propaganda to spew to their populance. This keeps their public's mind off their own problems and corrupt governments. It eventually makes it more difficult for a Pro-West government to stay in place without it resorting to suppression - which then backfires. And if we intend to push for Muslim Democracies, we better be sure it won't be a bunch of irate Islamicists stuffing the ballot boxes.
Dubya assures us that "only 10%" of the Muslim world support the terrorists - but that translates to "only" ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION (and counting)!
We can't defeat them all throughout the world. We can't convert their religion. But we can, and should, make it a priority to show them the truth about the world and re-direct their rage.
