Cakewalk from 19th C. minstrels. The one who strutted the best, won cakes.

In application to the press, I attribute it to selective hearing from the press. They don't believe that the President means what he says. The President has stated over and over (and Ari re-iterated at the presser today) this is not going to be easy.

There used to be a game played, at 'social events', church socials etc., called a cakewalk. It involved putting down numbers on the floor and the participants would walk around from number to number to music. When the music stopped, a number was called out, and the person standing on that number won a cake. It was considered an easy and amusing way to have fun. The cakes were donated, of course, by the participants.
