An old gentleman that I know, a retired attorney and AF pilot, likes to wink at me and say, "Don't you worry about it. You will never see another Democrat President in your lifetime. America is waking up."
I pray that he is correct.

All that being said, I agree with your old gentleman friend. Right is right, and tired of being passsive.

Bush Sr lost because of Ross Perot, no questions, if and or butts about it. Bush certainly DIDN'T lose because he was TOO conservative. Wasn't about the economy either. Bush SR picked a very bad Supreme, made a famous promise he broke about taxes, and Ross Perot took the margin from him. Without Ross Perot, Bush would have won about 53 to 47 over Clinton, in my opinion based on total vote counts.
Clinton won re election because the economy was flying, and the GOP had stole some thunder from the 96 race in 94. Some people felt comfortable with the idea of a mixed govt, the congress controlled by the GOP, but the WH run by a Dem.
The GOP has a very strong hold now, and should get stronger. Though it would help TREMENDOUSLY if Bush could pass the tax cuts and we see some strong signs of recovery going forward. Still, even with a bad economy, the Dems have only a bunch of lousy candidates to run.
