Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

big dogs meaning the B-52's? If so, the first wave that took off this afternoon should just be coming on station. No idea where their waypoints are, so we might not see the action unless it's downtown Baghdad. That's a pretty small area in a country the size of California.

In a running fire fight, I can't see the Iraqi's getting off several lucky shots to the heads of the soldiers that were KIA.Not even Carlos Hathcock . . .
I agree, they were executed, which is what defense people have declared to VOA as noted in the post.

When all is said and done and this conflict is over, the world will see the horrors of Saddam Hussien's brutal regime and his secret weapons facilities.
These hand wringing usefull idiots on the left will be proven once again to have mis-underestimated this President. The left hasn't learned the lesson they should have after being thumped in the mid-term elections od 2002. When the Liberation of Iraq is complete and all the claims of WMD's and Human Rights violations are uncovered, the 2004 elections will not be too pretty for these hate filled leftist in this country

It might be a bit tougher this time. I understand the Iraqi General who was in charge of the first plant is cooperating with us...and giving us all sorts of information.
They can change the talking points all they want...but this isn't 12 years ago. Too many alternate sources for getting the news out.
I say this only because I was encouraged that over 80 newspapers in 30 states (as of about 3 weeks ago) wrote lead editorials condemning the tactics being used by the Democrats in blocking the nomination of Miguel Estrada. I would imagine that number has risen.
Also....look at the 'talking points' on this war....and yet over 70% of the people don't believe them Isn't that refreshing?

I'm still confused. The long one sound siren is the all clear and the double triple sounding siren is the air raid? I usually only hear the latter.

my thoughts as well....what's coming now is
ultra serious fast paced imo.....but i bet depending on the surrender thing and inside iraqi resistance coupled with good guy ghosts, it could crumble from within...pluperfect is if it is done by the Good Iraqi's

More cross posting
Once the 3d gets behind these divisions there isn't a damn thing anyone can do to stop them except go nuclear. The mindset of this regime is such that they still can't comprehend the significance of what is happening here.
We are driving 60 ton vehicles 300 miles ACROSS the DESERT (not improved roads or highways) just to get to the fight. They aren't being hauled by heavy equipment movers-they are being DRIVEN.
Part of shock and awe, for those "in the know." The military leadership of iraq is lost.

Our soldiers world wide have seen these executions for what they are. Duly noted. They are on their way over for some pay back. 3 shot burst... 3 shot burst... 3 shot burst...

An oscillating siren is the warning, a steady tone is all-clear.

As far as the general talking, if he wasn't I think I would show him pics of the executed US soldiers and suggest we might want to even up the score...(a bluff of course)

The long wailing siren is the alert. The double/triple is the "all clear". They used to use these in boot camp for lightning storms...
