Akbar was born Mark Fidel Kools. His mother said she changed his name to Hasan Akbar after she remarried when he was a young boy. Public records found by The Associated Press showed listings for Hasan Akbar under the name Kools as well.

Sgt. Asan Akbar

He said, `Mama, when I get over there I have the feeling they are going to arrest me just because of the name that I have carried,'" Bilal told the newspaper for a story published on its Web site Sunday night.

* Could this have been pre-meditated? Why would he worry about being arrested if he wasn't going to do anything? And why was he prevented from serving the first time? I have a hard time believing it was because he was "muslim".

According to that article this guy has a degree in Mechanical engineering from the Univ. of California...and he is Sgt. in the Army. WOW!

My daughter said she had heard on TV, that his brother was tossed from the Air Force because of Anti-American statements after 9/11.

The plot may be bigger than the Army lets on. PC, doncha know???
