There's no doubt the PR and PC aspects of this war is costing the lives of American soldiers. I have no doubt we will prevail with our vastly superior might, but it will be far messier because we chose the "nice guy" route.
And this is going to scare N. Korea, Iran, etc.? We've lost the initial shock and awe of the other night.

We've lost the initial shock and awe of the other night. You aren't on the receiving end. We haven't lost anything. If you want to "go technical" and call any loss of coalition life as losing, be my guest. But you seem to have an impatient point of view.

This "nice guy" route is part of the high standard the American military imposes on itself, and we won't lower it. Personally I could care less what Iran, NK, etc. think about it. If they are smart, they should be very scared. However, if they want to hold to any illusions that the American military somehow shows weakness through this approach, so much the worse for them. As you said, our vastly superior might will prevail, and the fact that we can do so and leave the country's infrastructure and civilian population virtually completely intact is a testament to the professionalism of our armed forces and something that should be praised, not questioned, as some well-meaning folks on here are doing.

it will be far messier because we chose the "nice guy" route. The biggest mistake anyone can make is being nice to the bad guy. The bad guy simply doesn't give a f*ck if you're nice, because HE'S not nice. The bad guy will exploit your goodness and use it to kill you. Mercy and compassion are utterly wasted on the evil. Evil needs to be destroyed, without mercy, without compromise. Did God ask Joshua to show mercy to the Canaanites?
Dealing with these evil bastards is like dealing with rattlesnakes. Do you try to be nice to a rattlesnake when you encounter one and it tries to strike? No. You either run away, or you kill it, simple as that.
