I agree with you. I don't want to see those pictures either. But this notion that some things are too 'disturbing' for the American public to see is patronizing and offensive. Our very best citizens are smack dab in the middle of it, and our sensibilities here at home are too delicate to see the images that a large part of the world are celebrating? Besides, the media doesn't seem to have too much trouble showing images of piles of Iraqi bodies. We SHOULD be angry at the things that the barbarians in the world are doing to us. Sanitization of images makes us unnaturally docile. It's wrong and it's denial.
All that said, I think posting links rather than images is a pretty good compromise.

We need to see the truth. I wouldn't want to see my child in those pictures but it would be far more disturbing if he was forgotten
