"There was at least two female POWs during the first gulf war."

Whoops - you are absolutely right.

I now remember General Swartzkopf hugging one as she was repatriated.

I was just corresponding with a friend in Israel. He had emailed me a collage photo of the POW's and mentioned how he read on Free Republic about the policy on posting these pictures. He was almost apologetic mailing them to me, assuming that perhaps it was some type of unique (weak) American sentiment that forbids publishing these types of enemy propaganda pictures.

I told him it was not like that, Free Republic made the decision out of respect for the families of POWS and KIAs. I also told him the American military and the Administartion were pulling their punches in the initial execution of the war, to "save the infrastructure" and suppress civilian casualties, thus manipulating world opinion on behalf of the war.

But this is a grave mistake, and will only get more of our people killed. These people are playing for keeps and we shouldn't be pussyfooting around. So yes, Time to turn up the firepower and keep it there.

I agree we are all too much of gentlemen and ladies to do the vile things the anti-crowd does though it is nice to dream.

Your idea has merit, just one little hitch; we have the courts like the SF 9th to deal with and they don't want to offend.

Iraq is a signatory to the Geneva Conventions, as any member state of the UN is required to be. Therefore, any actions the regime takes on EPOWs would be prosecuteable...

This soldier is not the first female soldier taken prisoner by an enemy force in combat. There was at least one taken prisoner in the first Gulf War...

I agree. I think the Dixie Chicks are in the first category right now.

I'm not sure about Jane Fonda. She speaks about her regrets in such a vague way it's hard to know if she's repentent for the latter reason.

Michael Moore's speech at the Academy Awards just proved he's completely void of common sense. Even the rabid Susan Sarandon kept her mouth shut.

I've been listening to Savage more after the talk here on FR. Tonight he said "Stupid White Men"? It's autobiographical."
