I know "for the sake of the Iraqi people" we are being kind and allowing them their electricity, etc. But I think it's time to take out all communication, especially Iraqi TV.

I hope he is dead. If he is alive and can still call the shots, he has nothing to lose and will basically use everything in his arsenal.

I stayed up very late last night...almost 3 a.m. MT and my husband was listening to the Iraqi Defense Minister go on and on with a propaganda speech.
I was up late too and saw that ridiculous, disgusting performance. Since the Defense Minister seems to be the only Iraqi doing news conferences perhaps he is one of the last left alive. Hopefully, he will not stay that way.

I just heard one San Francisco demonstrator interviewed on the radio. He was ranting about America's Zionist masters and the world would be a better place if all Jews were dead. He was gleeful about dead American soldiers.

Do you understand what you are saying when you say we should go door to door? No sense at all...
Where did you get that? I didn't say that at all!

Yeah, no kidding, is there any doubt that we could colonize most of the world like the English Empire at one time? However, the "evil" US has self control, unlike most of the rest of the world.
Prayers for these soldiers. Thinking for all of them, especially our nephew and my hubby's best friend.

HawkeyeX (3594 posts) Mar-23-03, 11:34 AM (ET) 6. If the US POW's are being executed then I'm sorry, but the Iraqis does have legal right to do that, after all, it is THEIR country we are invading. Hawkeye-XThese are the people behind the so-called "peace movement'! The same traitors that spit on our returning Vietnam vets and called them baby-killers! I hope they rot in....! God forgive me for what I'm thinking now

God forgive us both, my friend.

You know.. I hate to bring up Clinton.. BUT.. you know.. IF we would've dealt with the attack on the COLE.. if we wouldve dealt with the FIRST attack on World Trade Center.. IF we would've dealt with the Somolians.. WE WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY. Clinton totally undermined the US .. Clinton made us a laughing stock worldwide.. Pray for our servicemen and women.

Please tell me there are some people over there challenging him? I've seen a few do it before, I sure hope some do now.

I will make a prediction, something I don't advocate and don't want to see, but that I believe will happen: Before the day is out, some of these "peace" demonstrators will be killed, perhaps a fair number of them.

Sure as the sun rises in the east.. our pals at the DU managed to wind up on the wrong side of a moral issue.
I knew they wouldn't let us down.

The bright side of this, if there is one, is that the stupid peacenik anti-war types are digging their own grave, and public sentiment about their words and actions will diminsh their cause.

I don't like bringing up the demon spawn either, BUT
What if the aftermath of the garbage WJC left behind leads to the extinction of any chance of HRC returning to the WH....Maybe even defeated for reelection to the senate?

Sick bastards. There will be a day of reckoning.

The reason this war was begun was based on the fact that Saddam Husseins regime is a rogue government determined to wreak untold violence and devastation on its own people, its neighbors, and the free world in general. This rogue nation, and its maniacal leader, are determined not to abide by the rules of civilized behavior (forgive the understatement). They choose instead to see as their destiny the wreaking of havoc on humanity. Iraqis who have fled have testified to torture of Iraqi citizens in ways that would have made Josef Mengele proud.
The fact that there is now a tape circulating that purportedly shows the cold-blooded execution of American POWs, and the harsh interrogation of others some of whom appear to be injured should not come as a shock to anyone. I hear commentators decrying the fact that both behaviors (the summary executions, and the interrogations) are in violation of the Geneva Convention. Is this a startling revelation?
Its time for us to stop being surprised at the barbarism of the Iraqi regime. Its time to swallow a brutal dose of reality. It doesnt have to be toxic; it can instead be curative. It depends on how we react to it. We need to take our shock and horror at whatever has occurred, and no doubt will continue to occur, at the hands of the Republican Guard over the duration of this war, and funnel our shock and horror into a renewed resolve and determination to rid the world of this sort of unconscionable malevolence.
If the reports of atrocities committed against our troops are true, there are two (understandable, but to be avoided at all costs) responses that we need to protect ourselves from embracing:
(1) We must not allow ourselves to be diverted from our own determination to fight this war so that we will be able to look back on this part of our history without regret or recrimination. There can be no calls for an eye for an eye retribution. Justice will be meted out to the perpetrators if not in war crimes trials (as it should and must be), then in an eternal justice far more fair and immutable than mankinds.
(2) We must not allow the soon-to-be deafening screams from the left (as will be manifest in the ratcheting up of the anti-war rhetoric from both the leftist leadership in congress, and their useful idiot supporters walking the streets of San Francisco and other pockets of treason around this country) to dampen our resolve to kill the madman, destroy his weapons, and liberate his people. Images of those who sought to chip away at our national resolve (and succeeded) during the Vietnam era must serve as a warning to us that our troops are in mortal danger, and we must continue to support them
. without reservation.
If indeed the rumors of execution are true, we must steel ourselves for the probability of more of the same. We are confronting the darkest depths of human evil in challenging the leadership of Iraq. But that darkness is the reason we are there. If we run or shrink from it (either literally or figuratively) because the evil has manifest itself yet again with our own soldiers in its crosshairs this time then the brave men who died at the hands of these barbarians will have died in vain.
And these sub-human anti-American protestors in San Francisco will be able to say I told you so.

The Pentagon should release the following statement:
"Any Iraqi military or political officer found, on a preponderance of the evidence, to be involved in the execution or torture of American military personel will themselves be summarily hanged, and their homes will be destroyed."
