Trent Lott's a racist. He's been condemned and shunned by Free Republic.

I'm surprised you'd quote a man who is so despised here, since he, and he alone, was responsible for Clinton not being convicted in his impeachment trial.</sarcasm.

Trent Lott had the votes in committee to call witnesses. He caved. Maybe the RATS would have never convicted anyway, but America needed to see Juanita Broaddrick and others on live TV in front of the Senate. Had they done that and people everywhere understood he was a rapist, he might still not have been convicted, but maybe he would have gone away. He is still doing damage. Yes, that was Lott's decision so I blame him.

I don't think he is a racist. I think he is spineless.

By the way, I quoted Lott because I have recently heard RATS comparing his criticism of Clinton to the despicable criticism of Rangel. They are not the same.
