I agree with you, but I must mention one Lee Harvey Oswald who was a member of the USMC stationed in Japan at the height of the cold war, working on some kind of U2 related mission whose fellow soldiers used to make fun of him for exposing communist ideas, and reading communist writings.

Let me be clear, I agree with you, and I don’t think Oswald should have been allowed to serve either. Of course we are a free society, but the military is different.
