Holding up a photograph of his son, Michael Waters-Bey, who described himself as a "naturalized Muslim," said he wished he could speak directly to the dead Marine's commander-in-chief.

Asked what he would tell President Bush (news - web sites), he said: "This was not your son or daughter. That chair he sat in at Thanksgiving will be empty forever."

I actually watched that interview, but the only message initially left with me was that the dad's reaction seemed too political. The details about the specialty, the faith, and today's attack raise considerable suspicion, and serves as a reminder to myself to pay even more attention about what is really going on.

In retrospect, if I saw that video of the dad again, I bet it would look even more contrived.

So the father describes himself as a "naturalized Muslim", but where's any direct mention of his dead Marine son's religion?

Not trying to be overly anal or picky, but...
