Too much emphasis by the brass on Compassionate warmaking. The CO is responsible but the mood has been set from the top.

This will sharpen their focus but it's a damn shame that they had to have their focus sharpened.

It was fine for awhile, but now it's time to pull out the stops.

...had to have their focus sharpened.

I recal a thread this week where a poster wrote that our military is walking around with empty weapons in Kuwait.

As a Priviate E-2 at Ft. Benning in 1961, during the Cuban mistle thing, I walked guard duty with an empty M-1.

At Ft. Polk, in 1967, as Officer of the Day, I posted guards and NCO's on guard duty at the Post Armory, with empty weapons.

Has this kind of madness continued? Maybe it has. Tom

It's better to have it sharpened now than before they get to Baghdad where I expect this to be the norm.

Makes me sick - Wolf Blitzer just talked about how military leaders were worried about this, worried about terrorists. I'd love to reach through the TV and slap Wolf and say "Wolf, this wasn't a terrorist attack, and military leaders apparently are little too comfortable in Kuwait. They've gotten a little too used to only having to worry about missile attacks, and they should be in a combat mindset and a mindset of thinking that in every little city, there maybe one or two Iraqis or whatever staying behind to cause problems like this."

I have a lot of respect for many of those in command, I even served under a few I've seen on the TV, however I would not be surprised if somebody of a lower rank is nailed for this.
