CBS just said that the suspect was being questioned. He was found in a bunker, injured.

I remember Gino's well. Grew up in Batimore and was a big Gino Marchetti fan.

I just saw that too. Why would a soldier do that?

Hmmm . . . interesting. You know, that soldier may have been taken hostage. My first thought was that he was a perpetrator, but we really can't jump to those conclusions without more information.

I wish they'ld get a lengthy report from Greg Kelly again. He's just outside of An Najaf and his unit was making contact. Now it's reported that there is a bunch of combat in that region.

I think we should just straight up tie him up and drop a grenade at his feet. Let the punishment fit the crime.

Since we're talking about a few other things on this thread, a basketball update:

Wisconsin beats Tulsa with a 3-point shot with 1 second left, 61-60.

Gonzaga and Arizona are currently tied, heading into their second overtime.

You do not have to act on behalf of a "state" to commit an act of war. What if there was a conclave of people on a secret island never before discovered, and they launched some missles at our military installations. That is war. Doesn't matter that they are not a state recognized by the U.N.

So what if they were acting in fear?

You seem to be saying the terrorist act/act of war distinction hinges on the rationality of the fear behind it. This thing about terrorists are fearful cowards . . . what if they are full of hate, or are sociopaths. No cowardice, just lack of conscience. There is no irrationality there.

It just seems that it doesn't matter who you are, and why you do it, if you attack another country's military apparatus, you (and/or your state or clan or whatever) are carrying out a war on that country.

I think we have learned that we can no longer, in the 21st century, cling to a map-like borders view of who is who and what is what.

Mostly the poppycock was at your ad hominem regarding my education. It does me well; obviously as a staunch conservative I have not been brainwashed by my higher education.

can't that be said for men as well...when a man is killed that could be the end of a bloodline....

True, but a male's (note I didn't say man's) 30 seconds of siring is overwhelmed by a woman's 9 months of pregnacy, and years of breast feeding, and nurturing.

A tribe can lose all but one man and potentialy survive. He can sire scores of children.

Lose all but one woman and the tribe's pretty much doomed...
