You did not say "the pope does not support this war" -instead you said "the vatican wants torture to continue unchallenged."

You remarks indicate either a lack of understanding (doubtful - you are probably not stupid) or a deliberate attempt to smear the Vatican.

People who oppose war do not thereby support Saddam. Criticize their position, but don't lie about the position they actually hold.

I disagree. The Pope (and the peaceniks, the UN, the French, the Germans and the Russians)by their lack of support for and denunciation of (the Pope today) the allied action in Iraq contribute to the apathy which would allow for the perpetuity of Saddam's regime.
That is the truth. It is not any smear of the Vatican. I am criticizing their opinion.
