Saddam's son beats 12-year-olds who say no to sex: defectors
The Sydney Morning Herald ^ | March 21, 2003 | Unknown

Saddam Hussein's eldest son mercilessly beats girls as young as 12 on the soles of their feet if they refuse to sleep with him, Iraqi defectors said today.

Uday Hussein forces head teachers of schools in Baghdad's poorest districts to send pupils to his palace where he arranges dates with those he likes.

If the chosen girls annoy him in anyway they are dangled over a wooden beam held by his bodyguards and repeatedly hit with a wooden club, according to two former members of his inner circle who recently fled Iraq.

"He does it to a girl if she says she doesn't want to go out with him, or if she finds another boyfriend, or is late or reluctant," one defector told Vanity Fair magazine.

The 38-year-old warns victims not to flinch while the beating is administered or they will have their legs broken. He often hits them up to 50 times, the report claimed.

Afterwards, when they can barely walk, he orders them to dance.

Uday, head of Iraq's Olympic Committee, was known to have beaten football players and athletes when they lost.

The defectors said he also inflicted beatings, imprisonment and torture on close friends and business associates - simply for being late to a meeting or irritating him.

His punishments have become more brutal since an assassination attempt in 1996 which left him with walking difficulties and problems having sex.

Some victims have been branded on the buttocks with hot irons.

"Uday tells them, 'this mark is never going to go from your body, so you'll remember me until the day you die'," one defector said.

One former friend died after being held down and made to drink huge quantities of pure alcohol.

Business rivals have been shot in the arm or a leg and then allowed to bleed slowly to death.

Uday also likes to deflower virginity, knowing that no one will touch them after he has slept with them, the defectors said.

"He likes joking about with his friends: 'look at her, after this she'll be a prostitute'."

The defectors have been debriefed by MI6 and Pentagon officials and are regarded as reliable sources on the workings of Saddam's regime, the magazine said.

Intelligence officials believe Uday may have been in the bunker hit by a cruise missile in the "decapitation strike" on Baghdad in the first hours of the war.

His younger brother, Qusay, is Saddam's heir after Uday fell out of favour when he murdered a close friend of his father in 1988.

Uday Hussein's Cruel April Fool Joke Not Funny to Hungry Iraqis

In an attempt to be funny, Saddam Hussein's son Uday published an item promising Iraq's hungry population an "increase in food rations," the London Telegraph reports.

The Babel newspaper, run by Uday Hussein, "announced a generous rise in portions of meat and chicken available under the rationing system in force" because of sanctions imposed after the Gulf War that have resulted in vastly reduced food supplies for ordinary Iraqis but not for Saddam's family and henchmen, who have been living high on the hog.

On "the last page of the newspaper" an insert "warned readers not to be fooled." This hoax wasn't the first such so-called April Fool's joke. Two years ago, the Times recalls, "the Iraqi government "played the same hoax on its people" when an official newspaper promised they would receive "bananas, chocolate and soft drinks in their rations."

The "joke" fell flat. For the Iraqi people, it's hard to laugh on an empty stomach.

A fate worse than 9/11

Son of Saddam's threat if U.S. attacks

By RICHARD SISK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

Uday Hussein

WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein's playboy son Uday blustered yesterday that if America invades Iraq, the U.S. will be hurt so badly that the Pentagon and World Trade Center attacks will seem like a "picnic."
"If they come, Sept. 11, which they are crying over and see as a big thing, will be a real picnic for them, God willing," Uday Hussein said on the al-Shahab (Youth) TV station he runs.

"It is better for them [the Americans] to keep themselves away from us," he said. "They will be hurt and pay a price they will never imagine," he said without specifying whether he meant by terrorism or losses in war.

Uday, 38, his brother Qusay Hussein, 36, and their father have issued a stream of threatening rhetoric in the current buildup to war, but they normally do not refer to the Sept. 11 attacks.

Statements from Qusay Hussein, head of intelligence and the Republican Guards, are deemed to carry more weight than those of his older brother, who has a reputation for partying and has been assigned lightweight duties in TV, rock radio and sports.

Uday Hussein said the U.S. "can get much more from Iraq by dialogue without resorting to the logic of force and war," but President Bush was fed up with talk and will use his State of the Union speech next week to brace the nation for the "prospect of war," a White House official said.

Explaining why

"This is not a speech to declare war," Dan Bartlett, the White House communications director, said in a preview of the annual address.

He said Bush would "educate the public about why we are taking the course that we are, that we have the prospect of war, and it's important to explain why."

Weapons inspectors were ready to give Iraq a grade of B for cooperating in the search for terror arsenals, but Bush believes Saddam already has flunked, Bartlett said. He said the Iraqi strongman was hiding "massive piles" of chemical and biological weapons.

In Vienna, chief nuclear arms inspector Mohamed ElBaradei was preparing a report on Iraqi cooperation for delivery to the United Nations Security Council on Monday that would give Iraq a generally good grade.

"Their report card will be a B. Access and cooperation are good," said ElBaradei spokesman Mark Gwozdecky. "He'll say we need several more months to come to conclusions."

At least, there is no mention of nuns being raped and infants being speared in bayonet practice as certain forces marched through Belgium in 1914. You gotta look at the bright side. George Creel has passed on, hasn't he?

Thats why we need him alive. So he can show the world what they appeased. To show the liberals what containment is, and how it affects the people who they arrogantly think they are speaking for, by containment.
And to harden the resolve to go after Kim Jong IL; he, too, is a sexual predator.

I don't recall bashing the Vatican. It was at the end of a list of other entities. But I do think the Pope made bad call on this one. And, I'm not the only one saying it. Even the staunch Catholic Bill O'Reilly seems to feel that way.

I think you and Bill O'Reilly are confused about Catholicism and the Pope's role within the Catholic Church. The Pope is, in fact, Head of State for the Holy See, but that hardly makes him a political figure. The Vatican has 400-odd citizens. In his role as Pontif, he is the moral leader and spiritual guide of the 1 billion Roman Catholics around the world. As such, it is his role to deliver the message of Jesus Christ, which is one of compassion, forgiveness, and personal sacrifice. He does not make political judgements. Secretly, I think that he is appaled by Saddam Hussein (has he ever said "Saddam's not such a bad guy?"), but there is no point in him getting into it, because there is nothing that he can do about it anyway.

Remeber, this is a guy who forgave the man who shot him two days afterward. Does this mean that he endorses asassination? Hardly.

Cigarette Business Good for the Sons of Saddam
Thursday, October 31, 2002

BY STEVE STECKLOW
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Middle East tobacco exporters say it's not possible to export cigarettes into the parts of Iraq controlled by Saddam Hussein without paying off members of his family.

In an interview, Abbas Al-Janabi, who served as a private secretary to Uday Hussein, Saddam's oldest son, from 1984 to 1998, describes the scheme. Al-Janabi says that until 1995, Hussein Kamel, Saddam's son-in-law and a government minister, collected taxes on every imported "master case" of 10,000 cigarettes.

After Kamel was murdered in Baghdad in 1995, Al-Janabi says the profits from this trade went to Uday Hussein, who dramatically increased the flow of imports.

A key way Uday Hussein did this was by reselling Iraq's imported cigarettes to smugglers who took them to Iran. "He enlarged the quantities [of cigarettes], he enlarged the business," Al-Janabi says. He adds that many of the cigarettes flowed from Cyprus into Iraq via Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

In the late 1990s, Uday Hussein's annual take from imported cigarettes averaged about $10 million a year from legal and illegal sales, says Al-Janabi, who was involved in collecting these revenues until 1998 when he defected from Iraq. "The truth is, he keeps all of it for himself. He never shares anything."

Uday Hussein, Saddam's eldest son, is by all reports a sadistic criminal, if not completely mad. He is a tall, dark-skinned, well-built man of thirty-seven, who in his narcissism and willfulness is almost a caricature of his father. Uday has all his father's brutal instincts and, apparently, none of his discipline. He is a flamboyant drunk, and famous for designing his own wild apparel. Photographs show him wearing enormous bow ties and suits in colors to match his luxury cars, including a bright-red one with white stripes, and one that is half red, half white. Some of his suit jackets have a lapel on one side but not the other.

SNIP

"At the parties," says Ismail, who now lives in Toronto, "I would be performing, and Uday would climb up on the stage with a machine gun and start shooting it at the ceiling. Everyone would drop down, terrified. I was used to being around weapons, bigger weapons than Uday's Kalashnikov, so I would just keep on singing. Sometimes at these parties there would be dozens of women and only five or six men. Uday insists that everyone get drunk with him. He would interrupt my performance, get up on stage with a big glass of cognac for himself and one for me. He would insist that I drink all of it with him. When he gets really drunk, out come the guns. His friends are all terrified of him, because he can have them imprisoned or killed. I saw him once get angry with one of his friends. He kicked the man in the ass so hard that his boot flew off. The man ran over and retrieved the boot and then tried to put it back on Uday's foot, with Uday cursing him all the while."
