If true then it is wise of the Administration to keep the lid on this or at least "in doubt" until we can get our forces arrayed in Iraq.

Well ... logic would say it's fairly likely because not one Iraqi airplane has been launched against our forces.
And ... we have had only limited resistance pockets.
So, the logic says there is nobody making any military decisions. If that's so, then the chances are good that Saddam and possibly both of his sons have been killed or severely wounded.

You have got to believe we had special forces on the ground very close to the bunker when it was struck. They would eavesdropped in on all the activity following the attack. They ought to have a pretty good idea whether Saddam was there.

We did hit it quite a bit. Over 30 or 40 times.

Shep Smith said that Medical Personel rushed to the scene right after the bombing.
As one would expect of medical personel.

Next! I wonder how Kim Jong-Il is feeling these days.

If I were Saddam, I would want the US military to think I was dead too! He may not even be in the country. He has billions and if he's a tenth as resourceful as OBL, he's relaxing comfortably on a beach somewhere with his concubines waiting at his beacon call.

It looks like Bush is going to be a HUGE success.
Now, a Bin Ladin catch would make him absolutely historical!

Late night information: Linda Vester reported this first, then Brett Baer at the Pentagon has filled in the gaps. I don't know if other networks are covering this or not.
As I understood it reported.....Saddam's mistress told US Military that medical personnel were called to the leadership site that was bombed last night. She's on again, reporting that he was definitely at that place, but she's still not saying for certain that he was killed or wounded. Both Brett and her have said that this particular mistress has given reliable information in the past.
Welcome back Linda! (She had a baby). Her extensive background in the middle east will give even more oomph to FOX coverage. Got to say, FOX imbedded reporters are doing a fantastic job. Man oh man, it's fabulous to know which side reporters are on, and these guys have made themselves a part of their units. My husband is very impressed with the respect they show to "their" unit commanders.

CBS: 'Senior Officials' Think Saddam May Not Have Survived
Thu Mar 20 2003 10:33:00 ET
"I am being told by several senior officials not to take that taped speech Saddam gave last night as proof that he survived the attack," CBS NEWS reporter David Martin said on air.
"They say the evidence that put him in the bunker last night was very reliable, and they are confident that the cruise missiles and bunker-busting bombs that were fired at that bunker last night hit the target. So now, intelligence experts are studying the tape to determine if it is really Saddam, or a body double which he is known to use from time to time. And they are running a computerized voice analysis, comparing that speech with known recordings of Saddam's voice. But that's a process that takes awhile. So we may not have a quick answer."
"There is considerable belief in this government that they may, in fact, have gotten Saddam."
