"We think Hussein is dead" (Bachelor & Alexander breaking)

John Bachelor says his sources say no resistance reported from Baghdad. US is keeping lid on story for fear of mass revolts. Picking this up from their pre-show WABC feed.

I'm interpreting "live feed" and "live stream" as being an internet-based link, is that correct? I'm looking for a web link to the radio station. ??

You're so right about the schadenfreud - I've been lurking over there too. The anti-war crowd's assertions about how this would go are collapsing like the Iraqui army. No massive casualties, civilian or otherwise, and plans for the oil to be put in trust under the UN. Their disappointment that there won't be thousands of body bags arriving at Dover is almost palpable. You'd think they'd be happy about the way this is turning out, but no. I guess when your illusions implode its pretty painful. All that seething hate has to find an outlet somewhere.

I'm also revising my own war assumptions. Although I always thought that this war would be like shooting fish in a barrel, I didn't expect this anticlimatic walkover. There seem to be no fish to shoot! They're not using shock and awe because there's no need to. I hope we wake up tomorrow to the news that a surrender has been negotiated, and the war is over. It'll be the November elections all over again!

Sorry about that! Here's the correct address to click on their feed. Right now you should be hearing Savage, but it's dead air.

The one thing I'm dying of curiosity about in this war, is what signals CIA will look for, coming out of Baghdad, as indicators that they got him.

When Stalin died, my father (rather presciently, I thought) had guessed at it well before it was announced, from the tone of the news releases coming out of Russia. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the CIA discussions of how to divine whether Hussein bought it or not. For instance - if he were buried in a bunker collapse, even his paladins might not know for sure, and CIA will be interpreting every nuance of their behavior in an attempt to puzzle out whether anyone in Iraq knows where he is.

No resistance? We haven't even attacked Baghdad yet. I'll believe this when I see it.

If the Iraqi Army begins to collapse within the next 48 hours, by God, the folks over at DU will have apoplexy.

A quick, clean victory with few casualties? Their hearts will be broken. They're counting on having lots of bloody shirts to wave.

" Oh, well, let's not count the chickens before they're hatched. If the Iraqi Army begins to collapse within the next 48 hours, by God, the folks over at DU will have apoplexy. "

Might be more than 48 hrs with Jennings giving troop positions
and weapons info every 5 minutes.

Someone dropped a dime on Saddam. He is dead and they are negotiating surrender.

They are encountering Iraqi soldiers who want to surrender, and the Marines are just ignoring the Iraqi soldiers and moving on.

I hope they are at least taking the guns....

Yeah, Saddam is cat food. That guy they had on TV was a Saddam impersonator. Everyone could tell he was the "I gotta make the donuts" guy from Dunkin Donuts. I mean you gotta ask yourself, after Dunkin Donuts, what has that guy been up to anyway? It makes you wonder and brings up suspicions. You gotta keep an eye on guys like that. They lose their donuts and they go crazy Godammit.

Just a moment to daydream.... consider the irony of it all.... an entire country liberated in less time than it took to prove our President REALLY won, despite chads and dimples.

Imagine the jokes. I'm imagining GWB saying to aides "Shoot, Gore put up more of a fight than Saddam!"

If this pans out, there will be a different kind of "shock and awe" reverberating throughout the world.

meaning that we can save the one we had prepared and use it on north korea, who i think would appreciate it much more anyway.

If Iraq surrenders now, can you imagine how it would cut the legs out from under each and every anti-American peace protestor and liberal Democrat in this country?! I am praying that this will happen. It will spare enormous loss of life which is the most important thing. It will put President Bush (and by extension the conservative cause) in a place of preeminence not seen in recent American history.
