Included in the Order of Battle:
German Army 750th NBC Defense BN [C/JTFCM]

Why is there a German unit here, given the German government's pro-Saddam position?
Is this Order of Battle limited to the current operations, or does it have broader application?

Unlike the Frogs, the Germans can't pass up the opportunity for a good fight. They've sent their Nuke/Chemicals/Bio defense unit.

The German Army NBC unit have been in Kuwait since around the time of Enduring Freedom as part of their commitment to the war on terrorism. They had nearly 300 troops deployed for an NBC exercise in the recent past and are now re-enforcing their troops due to the threat to Kuwait from chemical/bio weapons.

German Special Forces also deployed to Afghanistan in the hunt for Al Qaeda and ship and aircraft have also deployed to the Horn of Africa in support of Enduring Freedom.

As noted in the other posts above, these are the Chemical/ Biowar agent detection units, largely crews of the German Fuchs [Fox] armoured car fitted mobile chemical warfare agent detection and analysis laboratories. If the Germans pulled those unit out, they'd not only be abrogating the NATO treaty in which they agreed to do so and would thereby also cause the other nations to develop their own capabilities in that field, undermining German efforts to sell such equipment abroad, but would be subjecting civilians in any such affected areas to additional casualties, a touchy point for the Germans who've sold chemicals with such uses to Saddam over the past few decades, as well as having a history of that sort of thing of their own. I don't expect they'd want photographs of civilian corpses to be captioned as being the result of the Germans pulling their Fuchs CBR equipment trucks out so Saddam could gas the population with German chemicals with impunity.
