The whole point is, that recasting the real events in terms of the fantasy world, may bring moral clarity to a lot of folks who need it... and a good laugh to the rest of us.
For many folks, especially here in California, Tolkein is the only conservative author they've ever read.

I remember seeing a much funnier one where Frodo was sent to the War Crimes Tribunal in the Grey Havens for crimes against humanity when he caused the fall of Mordor....
To: HuntsvilleTxVeteran
I thought it was a pretty good analogy overall.

Stay alert. You wouldn't want the wicked witch to steal your ruby slippers.

You wouldn't want the wicked witch to steal your ruby slippers. LOL! What's she gonna do, send the flying cheese-eating surrender monkeys after me?

The truth of myth.
'I wish it need not have happened in my time,' said Frodo.
'So do I,' said Gandalf, 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.'

"War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend." -Faramir

We have it posted every day on the top of the daily Poetry thread.
Tolkien was a genius, and that sort of genius is timeless.
