The author makes several interesting observations. He says France gained a closer tie with Germany through its opposition to the US. He says China was the real loser in the fight between France and the US over Iraq, along with the UN. And he suggests China should apply to enter the G7, which can possibly replace the UN as a real world body with power.

I just heard on Fox News that the missles (which Iraq did not have) being launched at Kuwait are Chinese made. Probably delivered recently, too.

In his first news conference on Tuesday, China's new Premier Wen Jiabao insisted on a political solution for the crisis in Iraq,....

I wonder if he feels the same way about Taiwan. Or will China eventually decide on a military solution?
