The problem with not confronting evil is that it doesn't just sit there minding it's own business- it grows, as the past has so often shown. In the closing days of WW2 Gen. Patton wanted to go ahead and take out Stalin in a lightening strike. He was widely derided as a crazy war-monger. Can you imagine the suffering that could have been prevented if he had been allowed to do so? It boggles the mind.
