As Drango and CounterCounterCulture stated in this thread, we discussed at our last meeting the question of counter-protesting when the "civil disobedience" (really riots) begin. We decided NOT to go head to head with these people. For several reasons:
1)The situation is fluid, unpredictable and dangerous.
2)While it's hard to just sit by and watch these thugs "take over the city," they are just making themselves look worse than they already do, and will most likely get arrested in large numbers. Let them pay the consequences for their actions.
3)You could actually end up making the situation worse for law-enforcement and the city. I wish they were using fire hoses on these people, but in lieu of that, they've got their hands full trying to control the rabble. Let's not make it harder for them.
4)We've got our own rallies coming up (Rallies for America this weekend in Sacramento and Santa Rosa and on 3/29 in San Francisco), where we can show support for our country and our troops. Instead of responding to the left's agenda, let's make our voices heard in our own (respectful) way.
These are the conclusions we came to, although everyone is of course free to make their own decision. If anyone decides to go down to the Civic Center, I would just caution them to be VERY CAREFUL!
