WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As a U.S. deadline passed for President Saddam Hussein to leave Iraq or face war, the White House said the invasion of Baghdad would start at a time of President Bush's choosing.
"The disarmament of the Iraqi regime will begin at a time of the president's choosing," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters as the 8 p.m. deadline passed.

I'm guessing AT LEAST another week, maybe more. Bush is a very patient man.

The go order has been given. It is now in Tommy Franks hand. When Franks gives the word, it begins.

I agree. It's getting too warm over there for MOPP suits.

Already, Saddam's "elite" Republican Guard has evacuated...their bowels.

On the way home from work about two hours ago, I was listening to Michael Reagan on the radio. He said that the President was going to address the nation at 9:00 p.m. eastern. Obviously, that hasn't happened. Did anyone else hear that?
To: carton253
Do you have a source for this, or is it just a guess?
To: carton253
I conjecture, that there will be no darkness for cover, however, I am not a military planner.
Also some were guessing Franks is waiting for sandstorms to subside.
To: knak
Is Bush giving a speech tonight?

The most nervous persons on earth right now: Iraqi radar operators.
I give any of them a week to live....tops.

"Do you have a source for this, or is it just a guess?" One of the retired generals said it on Fox News about an hour and a half ago.

If you're feeling anxiety right now, just think how the Iraqis feel.

I suspect not a lot of Iraqis got any sleep tonight. They will undoubtedly be a lot more tired tomorrow night.

(Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.)

Yep, I heard it, too! General Franks will notify the Pentagon with the start time, and the Pentagon will notify the White House.
The President knows that General Franks is in the best position to know when it is time to go.

I'm going with a pure guess a retired General gave on Fox or MSNBC a couple of nights ago. He guessed Thursday at noon.
Tomorrow at noon EST here will be 8:00pm in Baghdad and dark.
I will be at the vet's office with my cat at that time.
