"He jumped, he wasn't pushed," said California Highway Patrol spokesman Wayne Ziese, who called the death a suicide. "Apparently he had a statement to give to police and jumped."

Legally, this is an important conclusion. His family won't get any life insurance payout on a suicide verses if it were declared an accidental death.

Besides I'm sure his family isn't going to be suffering any kind of "loss of income" as a result of this accident/suicide.
