Most NY sportswriters are liberals. They get very queasey about writing any political viewpoints from athletes, most of who are republicans. I actually kind of like Steinbrenner, but he had nothing to do with the Clinton snub, and was particularly embarassed by it. The ringleaders of the Clinton snub were devout Christians Andy Pettite and Chad Curtis. They refuse to associate themselves with pro-abortion politicians. Good for them.

I used to be a bat boy for the Columbus Clippers (dont laugh) and I had the privelage to meet Andy Pettite, Derik Jeter and a host of other stars that are now part of the Yankees. Pettite is a humble and very kind individual. Taught me a slider (or slaaaaader -texas draw). Good guy.
