Only 29%? - WE Can and MUST do better than this! Get these chicks off the UNITED STATES airwaves. Yes, in another column today they blame the decline in airplay as part of a RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY! Two press releases in one day by their management! They are running scared, and now it's time to start poking them in the ass with a pitchfork while they run. They MUST be held accountable for thier actions.

We're seriously in need of some work here. KJ97, one of our local country stations, promised to ban their play until they (a)made a public apology on air and (b)played a free gig at one of the three Air Force or one Army installations here in San Antonio.
They've done neither, but they're back on the air now.

Simon Colwell on American Idol told said to a contestant tonight, "You have a great Country voice. You should replace that girl on the Dixie Chicks."
The audience roared.

while i have voted in some anti-chicks polls found online, I really feel that she (nat) put her co-members in a tight spot. They should have come out immediately to say that one doesn't speak for all. Unfortunately, "they" didn't and relied on a less than sincere apology to thwart backlash. 3 CDs and a couple of statues is more than the average joe gets from opening his mouth. Hope they live well and prosper, but people don't buy their CDs based on their political opinions. Open mouth and sing, not insert foot. JMO

You can find out the most popular songs on the various formats of radio stations at

The Dixie Chicks' single is #1 on the current Country Chart with 6,090 total plays. It will be interesting to see how far they fall on next week's chart as a result of this.

Don't we have better things to do than ruin these women's careers? I think we made our point. I don't see why we have to go in for the kill.

Cumulus Bans The Dixie Chicks
In an e-mail to the Chicks' label, Monument, Cumulus Corporate Director/Country Programming Bob Raleigh says Cumulus stations were to resume playing The Dixie Chicks yesterday but that company EVP John Dickey "is still angry over their remarks and refuses to allow any Cumulus station to play their music" until singer Natalie Maines makes a public apology rather than one issued through a press release.
"Based on the comments most of my stations' listeners had over the past few days," Raleigh adds, "I can't say I disagree with John. The Chicks' comments were totally out of step with most of the nation, particularly country audiences."
When contacted by R&R, Raleigh said, "Based on the response we've gotten from our listeners, we're not going to be hurting ourselves by not playing their music. We're going to be hurting ourselves by playing it at this point."
Such Cumulus stations as WKKO/Toledo and KRMD/Shreveport, LA held public demonstrations over the weekend, with 400 listeners turning out for KRMD's "Chick Bash." PD Bob Shannon called the event a "pro-America rally" at which listeners tossed their Dixie Chicks CDs, tapes and DVDs into a pile to be run over by a tractor.
