...in spite of his three-months absence from the national political scene, former Vice President Al Gore is still the strongest Democratic challenger to President Bush.

Absence makes the heart grow founder. I know it's sick. Albeit, in Gore's case it seems to be the cause of why he's in Dem's front runner. All the others have been making fools of themselves.

In Al Gores case "ignorance" is more accurate but Twain wrote "...sit in silence...".
