FREEP: Oprah highlights Michael Moore and presents entire hour of "blame America first"

I stomached part of Moore's last appearance on Oprah, and Moore was in his sensitive, quiet mode, saying, among other things, that while the Colonial military conquerors are lionized, no one says anything about the heroes of peace, suggesting that more should be taught about the non-violent strategies of Mahatma Gandhi.

I laughed at this notion, because while Gandhi certainly succeeded in lifting the yoke of the British empire from India, what happened immediately afterward was a bloody struggle to fill the power void left by the Crown. The Muslims -- not as placid as the Brits -- and Hindus abandoned Gandhi's principles as if he never existed, and the enmity between India and Pakistan is testimony to how non-violence is just as useless as violence often is.

Gandhi ended up being assassinated by a militant from his own faith, who couldn't stand his inaction in the face of slaughter. Moore, however, would lead children to believe that because Gandhi's fasting, intelligence, and dedication to principles of peaceful revolution worked on Lord Mountbatten, it would work on bin Laden or Saddam. It is to laugh.

I watched. The moslem creep did blame us for causing 9/11. This was not an even argument and was grossly slanted towards the left.

I wish you could have taken down some questions and answers given in writing the body of of this post. What was Michael asked and how did Oprah respond..what were some of the remarks from the audience. I hold no fondness for Moore, but I have to see "something" to comment on one way or the other,before I go off freeping some show.

Moore was not on the show technically, but a portion of a video he shot was aired.

The video showed American atrocities and at the end said "CIA funded" OBL blew up the WTC.

To be more specific, the video showed times when Americans funded dictators. Then, it ended with OBL.

How did the audience react?

They kiss her a** no matter what she does. When she comes out on stage at the beginning of her show people stand, scream, clap, and cry at there mere sight of her. BARF.
This show didn't start with the normal hoopla today, tho. I saw the preview so I taped it, but I cannot get thru the first 10 min. Will try later. I have to watch some Jeopardy now to get my mind of things! Then I'll get more signs ready for the Berlin CT Freep this Sat!

Michael Moore wasn't on the show. It was a sickening small video about the dictators we have propped up, us supporting Saddam in the 80s, the Contras, Noriega, and then some garbage about 9-11. It was really shocking, partially false, and gross.

As for the rest of the show, if Bill O'Rielly or Sean Hannity had been doing the show, you wouldn't have this outrage. But it's Oprah, and God forbid, she is heavy, but then only the truly immature and moronic among us would use that against her. Remember when Rush Limbaugh was fat and everyone came to his defense if a liberal made on issue of it? Hypocracy is so charming.

Of course Bill or Sean would have also presented their side and explained to the guests how they are wrong, but that's not what Oprah usually does. It was just a show on why so many in the world, and mostly Muslims and Arabs, hate us. Yes, the Muslim blamed our power for why people hate us, but so what, it doesn't make him right!

I do think that there are two sides to this war. We are going to liberate the Iraqis and eliminate the threat from Saddam, and then there is the evil of Saddam, who many chose to ignore because they can profit from his oil.

I think it a good policy not to complain about a program unless one has actually seen it. Too often I have seen things misinterpreted or misunderstood by people who don't like a certain aspect or have another ax to grind.

Oprah's show on Iraq last year is why my democrat sister supports the war. She still hasn't recovered from hearing about Iraq having official government rapists.

It is quite possible that there will be further shows on this subject. I think it best to get a transcript of the program befor writing letters.

Michael Moore, however, is always fair game. LOL!

YOU may not believe the "USA is not responsible for all the wrongs in the world", but Oprah certainly does, along with those blatant propagandists she just had on her show. Where you even watching the clips she showed with that pretty music in the background from Michael Moore's stupid video? It absolutely without QUESTION portrayed the good ole' USA to blame for hundreds of thousands of murders around the world since the 40's. It was pathetic.

Maybe you went to the bathroom or something during that part. But today on Oprah was the last time I ever watch her or listen to anything she has to say. She didn't say much either, but all it takes is for good men to sit back and do nothing but give a forum to the evildoers to twist and distort reality in a way that she thinks now will make her more popular.

I think she already knows that she screwed up big time today with that show. It was awful.

If you read my post above, I only requested some meat and potatoes on the show. I just asked what the show was about, as I had not seen it and I am definitely not a fan of Moore. I don't watch Oprah.I just wanted to know why I should by freeping some show. I was hoping for some narrative on the show...before I get my rope out.

Well, it seems that getting the information is a little difficult, since we have some here who think it was very anti-American by Oprah, and others who think she was trying to educate. Since people I respect are on both sides of the opinion, it is pretty hard for me to make a decision, since I didn't see the program.

So, I think I will see if there is a transcript or a tape available, and until I find one, I will complain about people that I have seen, like Daschle.
