Are there two people with this name? Or does one have a fake ID?
To: Spirited

Re:
He doesn't sound like a Texan to me.
Being a 4th Generation Texan, I agree.
BTW, if red-headed blue-eyed terrorists had dropped the Twin Towers, I'd expect the FBI to question me and be a little worried if they gave me a pass.

This article should really read "Iraqis masquerading as Americans oppose move to unseat Iraqi Tyrant".
If any Germans in WW1 or WW2 expressed similar sympathies, they would have decorated the nearest lampost.
We have become too civilized and too tolerant for our own good or our national survival.
REPATRIATE THESE BUMS - NOW - BEFORE THE BOMBS FALL!!

Jawad said he was assured he was not being investigated, and in response to questions, told authorities he knows no one contemplating terror in North Texas. Still, he felt his patriotism was being questioned If he were truly patriotic, wouldn't he be happy to support an investigation into possible terrorist acts against America? What does he think our government should do about Iraqi nationals living among us, if not ask them questions?

It looks like the man is a liar about being an Iraqi. From your link:
Syed Hadi Jawad
A native of Pakistan, Hadi has lived in the United States since 1972. He came to Texas in 1973 to pursue a degree in Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. Since 1976 Hadi has been employed in the Material Handling Industry in the Dallas area. He reads and writes poetry. Since the early nineties Hadi has facilitated "Men's Issues" Support Groups and Poetry Circles in the Metroplex.

Hadi Jawad ... a 51-year-old American of Iraqi descent. .... Isam Alimam, who was raised in Iraq but prizes his loyalty to America. OK, so they found TWO skeptical Iraqi dissenters, er, descenters. Your point still stands.

LOL ! . . .
I wonder why they call this guy Iraqi? I wonder who's lying to whom? That is, if the activist lied to them or if the A/P knew it and is lying to us? Pretty crummy reporting either way.

>>"Jawad, a self-employed Dallas peace activist"
Puh-leese. They should at least correctly identify him as "unemployed". And likely "unemployable".

Yes. A veritable laundry list of anti-Americanism.
Jawad would be better served if he stuck to that light-in-the-loafers "Men's Issues" crpolla.

I sent Mr. Jawad an e-mail and asked if he could clarify the Iraq/Pakistan conflict. I also invited him here to comment. I doubt I hear from him or see him commenting here though. . .

""I came to this country when I was 19. I love this country its institutions, its fair play and due process," said Jawad,"
Oh really? Have ever served this country in any way Mr. Jawad?

I consider it amazing that DMN actually identified him as an activist, and did not try to pass him off as an ordinary citizen.

Note to Associated Press: just wanted to correct a typo in the headline of your, um, "news story".
"Two Texans of Iraqi descent decry march toward war"
You're welcome.

Bla, bla, blah - Iraqis have already stated they are not only happy but overwhelmingly involved in deposing the despot and having a change in their country. Nothing worse than a traitor, trying to pass as a true American citizen.

My husband is against this war, although he is very pro-American. The pope's declaration that this was an unjust war made a huge impression on him and he works closely with an anti-war Quaker who he respects. But I must say he was very impressed last night on the local news when an Iraqi was interviewed who has made his home here and still had relatives in Baghdad said that although worried for his relatives, he was for the war. This man had something (relatives) on the line and still was in support of the war. These are the folks that have a powerful message!
