Yawn.

So why is this in breaking?

Is it news he didn't have a last-minute change of heart and order 3 Panzergrenadier Divisions to assist the attack on Iraq or something?

It was a news flash on CNBC Europe. FR definition of Breaking News is "anything that would cause a news channel to break into programming."

A little late for inspections since I just read the inspectors have already left Iraq. LOL.

Word to Chirac and Shroeder
Your opinions are now unimportant.
We're playing by our rules.
You are outside the discussion
and your UN debate club is irrelevant!

Who really cares what these fools think or say. GWB and Blair dare to do big things, Chirac and Shroeder along with Clinton, and Jimma, all of them only don`t have the guts to do anything.

I took a quick look at "Spiegel-Online". Apparently Schroeder went on TV to give a talk to the nation.

To excerpt, he asked if the extent of the threat (to America) justified the certain death of thousands of innocent Iraqi children, women and men. To which, he answered, "No".

The article also mentioned that he his 'deeply moved' that in his stance he is not only 'one' with the great majority of German citizens, but with the UN Security Council and the citizens of the world as well.

Spiegel:.."Nein"

An another note. The "Spiegel" site also has a large article, picture and all, about Tommy Daschle's criticism of President Bush. The title, "Saddened that this President has failed so badly". Thanks, Tommy.

Frist was quoted as saying the Presidenthas been patient, has given diplomacy every chance, but it is now time to act. Kyl, that Saddam himself is to blame.

"Spiegel".."Betrübt, dass dieser Präsident so kläglich gescheitert ist"

Looks like the slant coming from Germany, France, is that only the Security Council can legitimize force, and that Bush is 'going it alone' against world opinion.

So, in my opinion, they are able to block any type of resolution, then say we don't have justification. This certainly is a festering mess. Not for long, I hope.

God bless our troops.

Who gives a hoot about world opinion? Muslims support muslims, no matter how horrible they treat other muslims.

In many places around the world, the people can't read! At least they have that for an excuse.

Germans and French have NO excuse. When their construction firms get frozen out of Iraq, and when American motorists stop buying German cars, maybe the elections will throw these socialist Kumbaya dreamers out.

Let us hope so. And replace France with Japan, on the Permanent UN SC.

Replace France with Spain, actually. They've earned it.

I agree. Schroeder gave his version of the "I feel your pain" act.

Have you seen the thread on the German UN Ambassador's memo about isolating the US in the UN? The article I translated, which ran Sunday in a Frankfurt paper, suggested that Schroeder/Germany wants to force the US to go it alone in Iraq, not necessarily to cause it's military defeat, rather to force it back to the UN after a war to look for help in reconstruction of Iraq. According to the article, the thought is, the job would be to big for the US by itself, and Schroeder is thinking that by helping in reconstruction he can use the expenditures as an excuse to be exempt from an EU case against Germany for violating the 3% deficit limit pact (EU Stability Pact).

The stonewall at the UN was planned to isolate the US. The tactic now, that the US is acting alone against Iraq (although BS, IMO), is apparently a corollary of that tactic.

Well France and Germany, you've made another choice that is going to put you on the ugly side of history again...

Oh well.

Trust me: when the war is won, and Saddam is toast and the Iraqi people are liberated, Schroeder and Chirac will STILL be speaking out against the war.

What stoppage of inspection, we are going on a coalition lead inspection of Iraq and full jurisdictional control. MORONS!!!!!

Don't you hate it when they argue about definitions and not substance? this is when the talk has to end, when it becomes diaper poop color talk of losers. .

VERY IMPORTANT

I'm sure Rummy is going to follow through on the rumored earlier stories to close all US military bases in Germany. However, we are employing German citizens and paying rent to Germany for shortwave and mediumwave transmitters for the old Radio Liberty and Radio Free Europe. EMAIL YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSPERSON TODAY AND DEMAND WE SHUT THESE DOWN AND MOVE THEM TO POLAND, ROMANIA OR BULGARIA. We need to reward our friends and give the big flip of the bird to nations like Belgium, France and Germany.

Hehehe - the inspections will stop - because once there is an American military governor of Iraq, they won't be necessary.
