That's fine with me. The worst possible thing that could happen is if they pass our resolution. That would give them some moral high ground to interfere in what we intend to do.

Actually, I think them ignoring it would be the very best outcome. It would be such a flagrant sticking of their heads in the sand that it would completely vindicate everything we have been accusing them of for the past 8 months.

This is actually a bit humorous. It appears that the Security Council and Blix are going to pretend the Azores did not occur. It should be really fun to watch the Texan in action in the next few days. He was already pissed today...they don't want to see him when he gets past that.

France has painted themselves into a corner where they can't even abstain on a vote now without suffering enormous embarrassment.

While I still wonder whether they really have the guts to veto, I don't think we'll find out. They'll continue to maintain that they will veto in hopes of preventing a vote at all.

France will fight to the life of the last inspector. Seems their plan is to keep the UNinspectors in Iraq, despite the imminance of war. Guess they think the UNinspectors will deter us from starting the war.

France has ruined its relationship with the United States for a generation to come.

Germany and Russia are not in such desperate straits. YET.

Especially Russia, which so far in this story has acted perversely against its own interests in a way that looks almost like they have lost their collective minds. But, almost all the statements of russia have emanated from the Foreign Ministry.

We have not heard from Putin. Perhaps he has allowed for the possiblity of a last minute intercession. If so, now is the time. Otherwise, by aligning with France and Germany, Russia is damagine her relationship not only with the Unted States, but with her closest European neighbors.

The question that Russia has to ask itself is whether it want to be a junior player in a Europe dominated by France and Germany, but under incredible pressure from a majority of European countries, or does she want to paly a role on the WORLD stage, and by derivation become a major, not a minor player in Europe, as a pertner of the United States.

Germany is in need of a regime change, pure and simple, and is likely to get one, too. Fairly soon.
