BTW, I didn't realize earlier that you are in Scotland. I can therefore understand your hostility to Blair. I would probably feel much the same were I living under his socialist rule. But being an American, my primary concern is his foreign policy, which from our point of view has been exemplary. Fair enough?

what bothers me is you neglected to read the linked article below by one of my fsvorite conservative Americans - how Rumsfled is pretty much hated in the Pentagon...or is that a false story too?

The execution of said foreign policy has neither been exemplary nor has its execution.

In this way maybe Blair is Churchillian (as much as it pains me to call a Labourite after that great Torie).

Winston had his heart and mind in the right place (pun also intended) but his strategic executions were great failures. Gallipoli was his idea and it was a huge failure and he thought Italy was the soft underbelly of Nazi Europe and it was not. Both of Winston's failures delayed the ends of both World Wars.
