I also heard on FOX today that the President has said the offer of financial aid to Turkey "is off the table".

The US has over-flight permission south of Turkey,Israel and Jordan? I thought Jordan was iffy about it, maybe they changed minds.

I'm thinking maybe they were considering shooting over Turkey from the Black Sea.
But remember, it was ONLY ONE person in Turkey (the leader in the Parliment!) who came up with the vote-counting scheme to deny the US allied services there after a majority voting in the Parliment voted YES in favor of supporting the US.
Just like it is ONE PERSON in France (admittedly, that one person is the President of France though) who opposes Bush.
This "universal opposition" is a press-statement farce.

Yep, Jordan has signed up. Obviously, the new King of Jordan is much brighter than the old Premier of France. The King knows his nation will do much more business with a new Iraq that is a US protege, if he's friendly with the US.
Chirac does not have a grip on that rather simple idea. He seems to have the attitude of the Sun King, "L'estate c'est moi." Chirac will shortly get a very rude education, which he badly deserves and warrants.

Latest column, now up on UPI, and FR, "Once, Twice, Three Times a Moron"
Latest book(let), "to Restore Trust in America."

""Turkey, where the ships were originally deployed, does not want these missiles to be fired over its territory.""
That was from the article, not my remark. My comment was directed at Turkey.
