Well, I'm not Catholic (evangelical Christian), but I AM an Academy grad, Class of '77, and I do NOT believe for a second that cadets are running rampant pegging young female cadets at will and then being protected by The Old Boys' Network of the Air Force.
Utter bloody nonsense.
I saw cadets booted out for FAR less serious infractions than rape. If the culture that you seem so ready to admit is there truly IS there, then the Academy would be bending over backward to keep all cadets.......to shelter their image; that once they've gone through the rigorous selection procedures, well by God, they're our own!!
Again, utter nonsense.
In my day, if a cadet raped a woman (female cadets were just coming into the freshman class then.......had little to nothing to do with them), he would be less worried about the OSI than what his fellow cadets would do to him. We took our Academy seriously; its code, its honor, and what it stood for. If you're a rapist scumbag, your ass is mine, and you'll never see a uniform in any color other than orange.
Don't be too quick to acquiesce to those suggesting that there is some massive coverup there. I wouldn't have bought it all those years ago........I don't buy it now.
I, for one, couldn't agree more. IMHO, given the attitude you mentioned plus the general "loath-the-white-male-police-military-conservative-establishment" stance in the media, this story will be one of much heat but very little light.
(Meaning that little, if any, backround/academic checking re: the accusors are ever done and/or brought to light. This alone is telling.)

It's all about power plays now. I have to think that the chicks in the academy are feminists, if not radical feminists, by the very fact they're there...
I believe, sir , that you are right. Having been an AF wife for more than 20 years I can tell you from experience that far and away more young ladies are interested in marrying an USAFA graduate than being one.
LOL.........well........ummmm......no, I don't mind answering, but I guess I never thought about it that way. My most formative years were in the '70's (grad. high school, entered/attended/graduated from the AF Academy, attended/graduated Pilot Training and CCTS for tankers, got married, had my first child....all in the same decade, matter of fact.)......have seven kids........graduated in '77.......Hmmmm, you may have a point. :)
