Look buster! Our constitution requires that ANY PERMISSION TO USE OUR AIRSPACE HAS TO BE GIVEN BY OUR PARLIAMENT.

Turkey has not refused access to her airspace. THAT REQUEST ONLY CAME DAYS AGO when the government was in process of changing due to elections last Sunday.

I think that Turkey might "come around" at the last minute and surprise everyone. I think that there will be a Northern front that Saddam is not expecting. What is your feeling on this Turk?

You;ve made many intelligent and supportive posts here, and please don't think we are all 'against' you..... but, I'm going to lay out a scenario you aren't going t like.

Besides the fact that a new government in Turkey has slowed up the works, and didn't even approve the USA to use Turkish land for operations, and now isn't going to vote again (if they are( intime for war, the decision to not allow overfly rights was not a parlimentary one. What does that say?

I believe that syas the Turks don't want a large concentration of tanks and heavy artillary in the northern region of Iraq so that the Turks can feel free, and powerful enough without USA intervention, to quell any KURDISH uprising that may occur, even in Iraq.

So, my friend, I think Turkey now, like France and others is looking after their own self-interest. Amazing that those without self interest are actually with the USA and the UK and Spain in this little endevour.

At this time, Turkey will not even allow the US to use it's airspace. Not much of an ally.

Turkey should be more willing to help us out. The US should be less than willing to help Turkey after this is over.

Which Constitution is that? We have in the past had overflight permission from Turkey, and it never went to Parliament for permission. There is more to Turkey's position than just waiting for its Parliament to do something. Turkey does NOT want a Northern front, mainly due to the Kurdish "problem." Turkey wants to move its own forces into Northern Iraq, and you know it. Turkey will allow the U.S. some limited access to its territory. However, its refusal (and you know as well as I do that Turkey will NOT allow us to establish a Northern front from Turkish territory) to allow us the access we had requested will not change the outcome of the war, but it will change Turkey's relations with the U.S., which was Turkey's only real staunch Western friend (just ask the current members of the E.U just how anxious they are for Turkey to join that august body). I realize that Turkey found itself in a tough situation with all this, but welcome to the real world.
