TO MY FELLOW CHRISTIANS: THE FLAG IS AN IDOL!
Flag Or The Cross? ^
Posted on 03/14/2003 8:03:57 PM PST by LalahLand
I am curious to find out why some of my fellow Christians still recite the pledge of allegiance. When you "pledge your allegiance" to an inanimate object you are basically worshipping that object. Am I missing something here? Why do some of us choose to salute and break one of the most important commandments? Shouldn't our pledge of allegiance be to God, and not a piece of cloth? The pledge of allegiance to the flag basically states that we will (blindly) support the flag and the actions of our government without question. That is the very essence of what idolatry is all about! Please check out the attached article.
idol SYLLABICATION: i·dol PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: dl KEY NOUN: 1a. An image used as an object of worship. b. A false god. 2. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.
idolatry SYLLABICATION: i·dol·a·try PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: -dl-tr KEY NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. i·dol·a·tries 1. Worship of idols. 2. Blind or excessive devotion to something.

The other 'Minister', and I suse that term loosely based on his rantings, is wrong on a very simple premise: "Flag or Cross"???? THAT is the problem - it's not a question of either/or - We could begin with the fact that the Pledge was written by a Baptist Minister, one presumably studied in Theology enough to know what he was doing... and, as has been stated before, reading Romans - actually reading it, not just flipping through it looking for the good parts, will really open your eyes...

Look, kid, you are in absolutely NO position to tell others what they are or are not ! GOD hasn't made
YOU the supreme judge of who is a " true " Christian and who is not. You came to a
CONSERVATIVE political forum, whose members are every denomination of Christian, all denominations of Jews, Muslims, Wiccans, aethiists, agnostics, and GOD only knows what else.
What you posed, is NOT a " difficult " question, for Christians, Jews, or anyone else ; it's what people do, who have nothing better to think about and don't know enough, to do anything else but wool gather.Frankly, it's banal, inane, juvenile, and bordering on extreme fringe fanaticism.
OTOH, it's a great thread for a Friday night, when we are on the brink or war. Why ? Because it's masses of good, clean fun, to poke holes in you. LOL

In case you haven't noticed FreeRepublic is not www.Jehovah Witnesses.com Thank you.. I was about to ask or comment the same line of thought. We use to have a neighbor who preached the same thing.. It sounded very familiar.

"Lala, since I am thinking and DON'T want to burn in hell, WHAT is your religion so I can join up and be 'saved'? "Or, as a good friend once said to someone like Lalah,
"Just how many IQ points do I have to give up to join your church?"

"Why do they hate us and what caused 9/11?"
ask the doctrine "explainer" of this "independent, non denominational church"
So what are some of the reasons that might have fueled such acts?
- Hatred for past religious and racial violence against the Muslim world.
- To destroy your faith in Christ as a citizen of the west by making you hate, thus compromising your believe in Jesus offer of new life based on Gods forgiveness and the right relationship between all people.
- Perhaps the plan was to free Palestine, or gain wealth, or reach some personal paradise.
- Or perhaps the goal was to unity the peoples of the Muslim faith under the fundamentalist tradition of the Taliban, because the followers of Mohammed would be persecuted by the western world.
- Perhaps the goal was to stop the oppression of western military power, the financial dominance of the poor, or the declining morals that result in social and spiritual ruin.
The primary reason for this act determines very much what the response should be to it. Even if the logic behind it does not track in the western mind, the appropriate response must be related to why this was do(ne) sic.>/b>
YEAH right we need to "UNDERSTAND" these murderors... These extremist relgious groups always try to find a way to "understand" why muslims believe it is OUR fault they killed our people...after all we somehow managed to have pissed them off!
Poor islamic radicals... at least they don't pledge allegiance to that accursed red white and blue flag! eh?
Maybe if we just "love them" enough while they murder and torture little children... the sweet love of Jesus will just miraculously fill their hearts...
No doubt God could do a miracle right? But did God stop Hitler, or did He pass us the responisibility and tell us to fight him to the death to stop that killer? EXPERIENCE and HISTORY point to the latter solution being the more typical one...
God of late has not been real big on parting the seas for deliverance, UNLESS you count Trident and Ohio Class subs as Miraculous Water Parting devices... link to their essay a sacrifice of praise...

They've all gotten to know God, and God says to support Saddam, rather than Bush? Even the new "Jewish" Democrats love Jesus!!
