Howard is consistently one of the most outspoken supporters of action against Iraq; yet he does not seem to be an important part of the current "diplomacy".
I suppose there are subtle reasons for this, but I'd like the U.S., the U.K., et al to emulate Australia -- thank you very much.

Well, for one thing Australia is not on the Security Council.
