San Francisco authorities are reporting that an anti-war group is gathering this morning outside the Pacific Stock Exchange.
Early reports indicate that members of the Direct Action to Stop the War group are blocking access to Montgomery Street near Bush. The group hopes to shut down activities at the stock exchange and block financial district traffic to bring attention to their point.
The group's planned non-violent protest against a possible U.S.-led military strike against Iraq is slated to start shortly after 9 a.m.
From KTVU-Channel 2...
Right now the first group of dirtbags, perhaps 30 of them, are sitting down in a circle in the middle of the intersection of Montgomery and Bush. Crime scene tape is being put up around the scene are arrests are starting to be made (kind of like scooping up poop).
Interesting, each arresting officer and cuffed appeasenik pose for pictures taken by another officer before being put in the police bus. The arrested were mainly an older crowd.

Arrests made in anti-war protest in S.F.
San Francisco police have made numerous arrests in an anti-war protest that briefly blocked entrances to the Pacific Stock Exchange building in the city's financial district. San Francisco police officers dressed in riot gear are continuing to monitor the demonstration by Direct Action to Stop War and about 12 motorcycle officers are diverting morning traffic away from the protest. The group, joined by the former president of the stock exchange, Warren Langley, began gathering at the building on Montgomery Street shortly before 7 a.m.
