Email recieved this morning from Lipton to FR protestors: (re: Dixie Chicks Sponsorship Tour and Lipton Foods)
Thank you so much for writing!
We are writing in response to your comments regarding the Dixie Chicks 'Top of the World Tour.' We certainly apologize and are grateful you have chosen to share your thoughts.
As a manufacturer we feel it is a major responsibility to provide our friends and customers with the most creative and entertaining means of sponsorship possible.
We have a long history of presenting 'tasteful' advertising, promotional and sponsorship efforts to the public. We certainly do not wish to offend anyone. In developing our promotional efforts, Unilever and its agencies may not always anticpate all possible implications of a specific campaign.
We will certainly forward all of your comments to our marketing staff.

Apologies are cheap. They must do all they can to cut themselves loose of the Blixie Chicks.

Now, they have to get rid of the pop-up ad for The Dixie Chicks tour, when you go to their website.

This reads like a form letter to me. I see the Dixie Chicks are still featured prominently on their website too...

The Chicks have gone from being in hot water to hot tea!

The website isn't loading all the way. Was there anything in the un-excerpted part that said they were dropping the clucks? Or is it pretty much full of non-committal words like the part you excerpted?
To: Petronski
It sounds like they are talking it over. (re: tour sponsorship)

This is vague, generic garbage from Lipton. It does not apologize for the tour. It's more of a "well, we're sorry you didn't like it" statement.
Just trying to paint an accurate picture.

can you spell c-a-r-e-e-r o-v-e-r Um, given that all three are married, have multiple children, have sold over 20 million records and have made more money than anyone on this site, I think its a fair guess that they weren't really looking for an extended career into their mid 30's. They have setteld down and want a family life.
Half their fan base was young girls anyway. This "boycott" nonsense consists mostly of people who didn't listen to them/like them in the first place and a small portion of their fan base. I doubt they care what anyone here thinks.
To: MississippiMan
It sounds like they are apologizing and are scrambling around trying to figure out what to do.
