Bob Uecker is headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
He was announced Thursday as the winner of the Ford Frick Award, presented annually for contributions to baseball broadcasting, and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 28 in Cooperstown.
There he will join former players Eddie Murray and Gary Carter on one of baseball's most special days.
'I'm very honored, Uecker said. 'This is a major happening for any broadcaster or a player, for that matter.
When you talk about the Hall of Fame, that's the pinnacle. It's as high as you can go.'

Uecker is really very good. After all, he makes the Brewers, a $hitty team for more that 20 years sound interesting.

Be nice. BTW in the summer of '83 I was in D.C., eating at an outside table with a friend, and we saw a guy that looked exactly like Bob U. I didn't say anything to him, I'm not an autograph guy. But later I thought "I should have at least spoken to him, so as to not hurt his feelings." It turned out that my friend saw him again, and it was just an uncanny resemblance. The guy could play Bob in a TV movie about the single off the best leftie of his time, maybe of all time.

As a member of the Cardinal Nation, thank heaven it wasn't for actually playing.
