Elizabeth Smart may have been photographed at a party with transient street preacher Brian David Mitchell in Salt Lake City last September.
A photo taken at the party by Dan Gorder and e-mailed to 2News shows Mitchell with two women wearing veils. One of the females may be Elizabeth.
The photos were snapped three months after Smart was abducted from her home in June. She has been the focus of a massive search since that time.
Smart was found with Mitchell Wednesday in Sandy. Police started looking for Mitchell after Elizabeth's sister said he might be the man who took the girl from her bedroom last June.
Mitchell worked at the Smart's home briefly before Elizabeth's abduction.
Smart may have been traveling with Mitchell and his wife. There are reports that she spent time in the mountains above Salt Lake City and traveled as far as San Diego and Florida during the past nine months.
Police and family members believe that Mitchell abducted Elizabeth and held her against her will. They said Elizabeth did not have the opportunity to escape.
Smart family members said someone was always with Elizabeth and she didn't have a chance to get away or communicate with her family.
It is unclear if Elizabeth was abused or threatened. Some speculate that she may have been the victim of some type of brainwashing.
It is unclear how long Elizabeth was in the Salt Lake area after she disappeared from her home.
The party where the photos were taken was on 10th East and 2nd South in Salt Lake City. Mitchell and the women just walked into the party, according to Gorder.
"I just started snapping photos of them, they looked a little weird," Gorder said. " The women didn't say a word, the man talked about Jesus and stuff like that. He really didn't make a lot of sense."
The women never really looked around at people very much. "It seemed like they were sort of obedient to him."
Gorder said that the man believed to be Mitchell was drinking at the party.

I also saw a home video of the trio at a SLC park this morning on Good Morning America. It was Brian David Mitchell with two women, in white burak-like clothing, and veils. The video was taken by a SLC resident who put it on his shelf, when he saw the pictures yesterday, he found the tape and (sold) it to GMA.

This was all posted yesterday. It's just a very odd story. Her captors obviously had some kind of hold on her that prevented her from getting away. My prayers continue to be with her and her family that she and they can return to some normalcy.

Yes - very strange. The photos are haunting. Something is not quite right at all.
They had to have had her drugged or something. You would think once she were in public all she had to do was rip that veil and burka off and scream "CALL 911! I'M ELIZABETH SMART!!!" and she'd be free. Very strange.
I am very grateful that she is back home safe, however.

It's looking more and more like the kid went completely willingly!

I could be wrong, but I don't think she went willingly. I do think there is something very strange with her family... who knows perhaps her father is physically abusive. Elizabeth might have been raised to be obedient to authority. And her security was severely damaged... she was kidnapped from her bed, in her own home, with her parents right there. Why would anyone think themselves safe?
Also, perhaps after being "damaged goods" she felt that she could not go back home again. Who knows what threats have been used against her and her family. Who knows if previous attempts at escape failed and things were worse for her after that.
I don't think we will ever know the whole story and I have to admit, her father's personality sure puts a weird light on things. But I do not believe she went willingly or that she even stayed willingly. IMHO

It's looking more and more like the kid went completely willingly! The mere hint that this could be a possibility was enough to get one's head flamed off yesterday by the ultra-emotional types around here. Today, it's not so strange. Tomorrow, it could very well be mainstream.

Wasn't there some early speculation that the dad was gay, or in some other way was a deviant? I don't know why this comes to mind, but I remember reading something that implied or hinted at that.

I do think there is something very strange with her family... The dad is driving me nuts --- his voice makes me want to throw something through the TV set.
How better to hide her in plain sight dress her like a Moslem Woman - in this day and age of PC noone would have the guts to look under the vail or even stare too long.

I agree totally! I believe if we really investigate the family situations, this girl ran away from home! This wasn't a kidnapping! The screen cut from the inside, no struggle, the silent sister....come on!!!

her father's personality sure puts a weird light on things. No doubt about it --- there's something just wrong about that guy. I suspect we'll eventually discover that this family has a lot to hide.

this girl ran away from home!
I suspect something similar to this (I think many people do), but regardless, the people who kept her did so illegally since ES is a minor.
