NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - French-owned Sofitel takes precautionary measures in U.S. due to anti-French.

French flags no longer are flying high and proud outside the Sofitel Hotel in midtown Manhattan. The French-owned hotel chain replaced them with the Stars and Stripes as a peace offering to its American guests.

"This is not a political consideration," Charoy said. "The move is temporary and we just wanted to be safe."

STILL they can't help but stick a finger in our eye.

I'm so glad to have originally brought Sofitel, Motel6 and Red Roof (and many others) to the attention of Francestinks.com to be included in their "do not buy" list. FREE REPUBLIC GETS RESULTS! Every single one of us can make a difference.

I heard Francestinks.com has been attacked by hackers from Germany. It's still not back up yet. May God bless and protect that courageous webmaster.

"do not buy" list

While a list is fine...you can also just ask your local grocery store manager, NOT to stock French products!

I was wondering why all those bedsheets were hanging from the railings of the Motel 6 out on the turnpike.

Jerry Springer (talk show) ~ French owned

Oh, it all makes sense now. In an effort to make themselves feel better, the French found the most obnoxious person to do the most obnoxious talk show with the most obnoxious people on it.

Jerry, who used to be mayor of my home town, decided to test the waters in politics again. He put his name forth as a US Senate candidate for 2004.

He was expecting to be loved....he discovered that something like 75% of Ohio wants him to go away, shut up, and stay away from our constitution.

(BTW, he flamed out as mayor 'cause he got caught purchasing a prostitute. I'm not sure it was the morals of the case. They caught him 'cause he paid with a CHECK! The city figured anyone that stupid didn't even have the smarts to be a powerful crooked politician.)

There are many really nice Australian wines to try - the Aussies are with us w/regards to Iraq, and their wines are good and not expensive.

I like the reds the best - the the merlots, shirazs, and shiraz-cabernet mixtures. 2 of my preferred brands are Rosemount and Banrock Station.

Vive L'Australia! ::grin:::

or fly Air France

Hey,Air France is a great ride. The cockpit crews are first rate;the cabin crews knock themselves out for the passengers and , frankly,I ,a really obvious American, was treated like I was king on the flights I have taken with them. It was a gas to compare aviation reminisces(read:swapping lies) with the crews, most of whom would fit it well with the majority of us Freepers. Funny, even on the internal flights to Nice, the Air France crews were terrific,no trace of anti American attitudes at all. On the contrary,I felt like I was the most important person on the flight.

What a surprise that list was. Is there anything owned by American companies anymore?(Just being sarcastic)

I was particularly surprised by Seagrams,Dannon, and Houghton Mifflin.
